Why an independant family office?
So as to not be both judge and party in matters concerning the clients’ interests, and those of the bank or the asset managers. For high net worth clients, requirements such as availability, adjusted fees and charges, and made-to-measure solutions are less and less compatible with the profitability needs of financial institutions. For good wealth management consulting, it is important to be free to serve the client’s needs, to be able to negotiate in his or her best interest. This type of consulting was until recently carried out by banks offering private client services. The term “family officer” is a current version of the traditional “fondé de pouvoirs” (fiduciary). This connotation should define a real family office.
What are the necessary competences?
A family office has to be more than simply CGP (Conseiller en gestion de patrimoine) or CIF (Conseiller en investissement financière), specified by new provisions of the financial security law. This requires an excellent network of professionals. Tiaré has at its disposal outstanding internal competencies – legal, tax, financial and social – in order to cover all aspects of family and entrepreneurial wealth. It is willing to serve families of different profiles – old fortune, “ebullient” fortune (companies started in the last decades), company managers, international wealth, and, because philanthropy is a feature of wealth, also associations, foundations, religious works, and congregations of all denominations.
What is the advantage in comparison with other similar structures and top banks?
There are not many real family offices in France. Certain were created by industrial families and are organized as family secretariats consisting of an administrator, a secretary, and a financial director. These are “dedicated family offices.” Others are consulting offices specializing in selecting financial managers and financial asset consolidation, covering only this one dimension. Moreover, some of them are solely financial products brokers. Authentic family offices (dedicated or multi-family) are rare. In addition, Tiaré decided to draw some of its capital from some of the family clients in order to ensure permanent respect of its guiding philosophy.
